In 2011, as a research officer in the Joint Centre for Disaster Research (JCDR), Massey University, she was a member of an academic advisory group on psychosocial recovery following the Canterbury Earthquakes. Her background is in clinical psychology and her research focuses on what factors fostered positive coping in the recovery of children and youth following these earthquakes. Her interest is in how children, within their families and communities, cope effectively with adversity, and how we can promote contexts where children and families thrive.
