Past reincarnations include primary teacher, primary school principal for 11 years, businessman, and now senior tutor on the Albany campus since 2009. I am currently pursuing research interests in the area of Teaching as Inquiry and Physical Education, and have also compiled a literature review in the area of teacher effectiveness. Future research plans include the place of embedded communication in teacher responses, the power inherent in weak pedagogy, and, if I live long enough, a comparison of non-linear and additive learning models.
I have to date presented a workshop at NZARE 2015 (How Teaching as Inquiry enhances the mana of teacher and learner.), and will be presentiing again at NZARE 2016 (Classroom politics, poor pedagogy, and outstanding results ). I have to date published as a rapporteur for TEFANZ and a book review of Teaching as inquiry, with a focus on priority learners to be published in Kairaranga (Vol 17, issue 2, 2017)
I currently teach 4 papers in the Graduate Diploma of Primary Teaching programme on the Albany Campus. These are Literacy Development and Pedagogy, Teaching in Context, Teaching as Inquiry, and Hauora/PE in the Arts Curriculum paper.
