Wildbase Oil Response

Wildbase Oil Response works to minimise the damaging effects of oil pollution on wildlife. We undertake the care, rehabilitation and release of animals after a marine oil spill. We also provide training internationally in wildlife oil spill response and management.

We operate in New Zealand under contract to Maritime New Zealand and also work on oil responses internationally. Our experience includes working with Maritime New Zealand to lead the response to the Rena oil spill in 2011.

Foundations of Oiled Wildlife Response courses

Massey University and University of California at Davis have jointly developed this comprehensive training program designed with online and face-to-face modalities aimed globally at producing high quality oiled wildlife responders. Having personnel trained in oiled wildlife response is a key component for complete oil spill response preparedness.
