ASKING FUNDAMENTAL QUESTIONS ABOUT SOCIETY AND CULTURE

School of Humanities

Humanities disciplines bring together the many different aspects of what it means to be human. In the School of Humanities we ask fundamental questions about society and culture and examine our individual and collective achievements, fascinations and follies in both the past and present.

Learning about and studying languages and cultures is an excellent preparation for participating in our increasingly interconnected world. An understanding of where we have come from as people, and our fundamental beliefs, is developed in many of the other disciplines offered in the humanities at Massey University.

From linguistics, languages and academic English to classical studies, history and philosophy we offer a diverse range of study programmes

From the history and culture of ancient societies to the impact of digital technologies and modern language study, our research is diverse in form and approach.

Our staff are actively researching, publishing and involved in internationally-significant activities in the humanities areas.

The disciplines we offer uniquely develop valuable skills in research, analysis, critical thinking and communication. Find out more about the School.

From our ground-breaking research to events and opinions on current affairs our staff, students and work is often in the media.

We hold regular seminars, conferences and symposiums.
