At Massey University I found myself being challenged by both my peers and mentors to achieve to the best of my ability.
Rural valuation appealed to me as I wanted a career in the agriculture industry that offered a wide variety of work and allowed me to meet and network with an array of people both in office and on field.
My degree was challenging but extremely rewarding. Every course that was part of it was an aspect of agriculture that I wanted to master, I can definitely see the value in completing each.
My time at Massey was unforgettable. The best part is the people I met, both students and lecturers. It is great being surrounded by like-minded people who also have a passion for agriculture.
One of the most rewarding experiences I had was being a Vice-Chairman of the Massey Young Farmers Club, it allowed me to develop my leadership and inter-personal skills. The second was being a part of the Red Meat Network; it gave me invaluable insight into New Zealand agricultural businesses and access to some people at the forefront of the industry.
The most valuable piece of advice I could give is to take any and every opportunity that comes your way. Join a club, get involved in an initiative, and most importantly, network with fellow students and any industry professionals made available to you.
