COVID-19 Facility Updates

With a move to alert level 1 from midnight Monday 8th June, use of the Recreation Centre and its facilities changes again. The information below has been updated to reflect how we operate now.

Key points to note:

  • You no longer need to book the Fitness Centre.
  • Group fitness class numbers have been increased but booking is still required.
  • Limits on court bookings have been eased.
  • Casual entry (non-member) use is now allowed.
  • Payments (cash and EFTPOS) can be made at reception.


Our opening hours are changing temporarily and will be as follows: 
· Monday-Friday 6am – 10pm 
· Saturday-Sunday 9am – 6pm 

If there are any further changes to these hours, we will notify users via email, our website and Facebook page.

HEALTH AND SAFETY - All users must read

Please ensure you scan or sign-in at reception every time you visit.

When you visit we need you to do these essentials:

  • Check in at reception every time you visit. This may be by scanning a membership card through our entry turnstile, manually tagging in through reception, or recording your name, contact number and time of entry on our entry form at reception.
    • You must check in but you are no longer required to check out.
    • We have government QR codes around the facility for you to record your location if you wish.
  • Wipe down all equipment before and after you touch it using the paper towels and sanitiser provided. This includes but is not limited to handles of dumbbells, barbells, screens on cardio equipment, weight plates, mats, and pin knobs on cable machines.
  • Follow the instructions of Recreation Centre staff and signage.
  • If you are at all unwell, stay home.
  • Be kind and respectful of all users.

We highly recommend you do the following to protect your health and safety:

  • Wash or sanitise your hands before and after exercise.
  • Use a sweat towel as a barrier between yourself and equipment. We recommend bringing your own but do have them available to borrow free of charge from reception.
  • Wipe down personal devices e.g. phones. 

Other information:

  • Drinking fountains and water stations are now available for use.
    • We still recommend bringing your own bottle to fill.
  • Extractor fans and open windows are used to manage air flow. Fans can also be used as required. Please ask at reception if you want these on.
  • Recreation Centre staff will be conducting three cleans per day. This will be done during quiet periods and while users are in the building.


As of Tuesday 9th June, Fitness Centre bookings are no longer required and there are no limits to numbers in the facility.

  • Please read the updated health and safety information above for information about entry into and use of the facility.


  • Changing room, toilet and shower use is now as normal with no booking required.


  • For the duration of our closure, all memberships, concessions, and payments were suspended and expiry dates extended.
  • All memberships, concessions and payments that allow access to the Fitness Centre resumed on 20/05/20.
  • Courts Only memberships resumed on Thursday 28th May 2020.
  • Group Fitness Only memberships resumed on Tuesday 2nd June 2020.
  • Yoga resumes on Monday 22nd June at the new day and time of Monday 6pm.

Holds and Cancellations

If your membership or concession will re-activate on 20/05/20 and you DO NOT want this to happen, you must contact us as per the following:

  • If you have moved away from the facility or have continued concerns for your safety and WILL return at a future date, please contact us to extend the hold to your membership.
    • Hold requests are available on all membership types.
    • Debitsuccess (direct debit) memberships can be held for a fixed period of up to six months.
    • Members can defer the re-start of their membership to a later date (within 12 months) on memberships paid upfront.
  • If you have moved away from your pre-lockdown residence or have a specific medical condition/s that mean you can’t use and WILL NOT be returning to the facility, please contact us if you wish to arrange a cancellation of your membership.

New and Renewed memberships

If you would like to sign up for a new membership or renew your membership, you can do so at reception or on our website.

Concession passes

  • Concession passes can be purchased online or from reception.
  • $100 for 10 entries, expire after 12 months.
  • Can be used to access Fitness Centre, LES MILLS group fitness classes, and recreational facilities.

Casual entry

  • Casual/non-member use is now available.
    • $12 for adults
    • $10 for students (with ID)
    • $5 for children under 15 years
  • Payment at reception via cash or EFTPOS.


  • LES MILLS group fitness classes have resumed.
    • Find the timetable on the Massey app or on our website.
      • It is smaller and will be so until the start of semester 2 in July.
      • We will slowly re-introduce BodyPump and BodyStep classes and update this on the web timetable, Massey app, and notify users via Facebook.
  • Class numbers have been increased to 24 in RPM and 60 for all other programmes.
  • If you wish to attend you must book your space in advance.
    • Bookings can be made over the phone or at reception. No online or email bookings available.
      • To book call reception on 06 350 5080.
    • Classes can be booked 24 hours in advance of the scheduled class.
    • If you cannot attend, please call to cancel to make the space available for others.
  • When you come in you must enter through reception. This is necessary to receive your entry docket which will allow you access to the class.
  • Please read through our Health and Safety information above on use of the facility.
  • If you have your own mat, we recommend bringing it to class.

  • Yoga will resume Monday 22nd June at the new day and time of Monday's 6pm. For more info check out our website.

  • LES MILLS On Demand continues to be available and the link to sign up can be found on our website.
    • LMOD is a service licensed to us. The length of the free trial and availability of affiliate discount are dictated to us by LES MILLS.
    • Any enquiries about LMOD payments or cancellations must be directed through the LMOD website.


  • Our recreational spaces are available to all users, including casual/non-member entry.
    • The Teaching Gym is being re-surfaced and is currently unavailable for booking. We anticipate its completion by the end of June.
  • Bookings are restricted to 2 hours maximum, except for half and full court Sports Hall bookings which are restricted to 1 hour maximum.
    • Half court and full court bookings must have a minimum of six people attend.
    • Users are to set up and pack down nets and return these to reception after use.
  • We recommend booking to secure your space and avoid disappointment.

  • All visitors to our facility must sign-in at reception before going to the court.


  • The new calendar of classes has been updated and posted to the Velocity Five-0 website.
  • All registered members of previous rounds would have been contacted to either complete the round cut short due to lockdown or to gauge interest if they had registered for a round that would have occurred during lockdown.

Most Club sport training recommenced under Level 2. Please check with your club regarding their plans for recommencing activity if they haven’t already.

Club Bookings

This section outlines the requirements for us to be able to take any club bookings.

  • All existing club bookings prior to Covid-19 lockdown were cancelled and have been re-booked - or will need to be re-booked.
  • Rather than use the online booking form, please contact Esther directly on for any club bookings and attach the appropriate supporting documentation. 
  • Where possible we will try to retain your existing time slots, however as our hours of operation differ slightly it will impact some bookings.  (Esther will let you know if that’s you).
  • The Teaching Gym is currently closed while the floor is resurfaced so in the short term there is very limited availability for club training – hopefully this will be completed by the end of June.

Guidelines for Resuming Activity

In order to resume activity clubs will need to provide us with a written plan for safe operation.  This should outline the protocols and procedures  in place to ensure you meet all Level 1 guidelines.

To summarise:

  • You must have a system of recording and retaining contact details of all attending (for contact tracing).   This is still required at Level 1.
  • Basic hygiene measures must be adhered to including washing and drying hands before and after any activity. 
  • Caution is required with common touch points (e.g. balls or sporting equipment) so these should to be regularly cleaned/sanitised during a session. 
  • In order to meet our responsibilities, the Recreation Centre will be asking to receive a copy of your attendance record after each session for contact tracing purposes.
    • You can use any method you like to record attendance – simple written form is fine, but it must be scanned/copied and submitted to us after each session.
    • You are required to keep this information readily available (as we will also) for 7 weeks.
    • Please outline your method for collecting this information in your written plan.
