As a researcher and author your name is an asset because it links your identity to all of your research outputs over time.
You should manage your researcher name so that:
Decide upon the way you will be known and be consistent about using it for all your publications and presentations.
For example, if your name is Jessica Smith, decide whether you will be known as Jessica Smith; Jessica S Smith; Jessica Sarah Smith etc. and stick to that convention.
But, however careful you are about using a particular form of your name, there is no guarantee that publishers will conform to your choice. Therefore, we suggest that you create an ORCID ID to:
